Pastor William Burns was born on September 11, 1934, in Oswego, New York. He accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior and was baptized at the Huntington Baptist Church in 1944. In 1954 he was licensed to preach the Gospel Ministry at the same church.

In 1956, Pastor Burns was graduated from the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois, and in 1960 graduated from the Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in 1961 at the Boon Baptist Church in Michigan. In 1965, he was also commissioned as an American Baptist Home Missionary.

Pastor Burns has been active in the American Baptist work at all levels including serving on the General Board and the International Board. He is a trained chaplain and counselor. He has served as pastor in 5 churches. Since his retirement in 1996, he served as interim pastor of 6 churches. At present he is serving at the Firestone Park Baptist Church, Akron, Ohio.

Pastor Burns has been married to Lucy for 53 years and together have two children, Bill Burns of Illinois and Barbara Singerman a missionary with her husband Jeff in West Africa. His prayer is that God will redeem, build up and give victory to the hearers of God’s Word.
